In the area of our personal finances, who is in command? Is it us or the agencies we deal with in our lives, the banks, insurance companies, credit card companies, landlords, employers, and others. All of the agencies I have mentioned have and use the ability to affect our lives based mainly on our credit scores, assigned by the Fair Isaacs company who invented the FICO score.
Banks can turn us down for loans, banks and credit card companies assign interest rates based on the score, insurance companies can charge us higher premiums or terminate our policies based on the score, landlords can deny us housing and employers can deny us jobs, all based on the FICO score.
The FICO (acronym for Fair Isaac COrporation) score started its development in 1956, but was not widely adopted until the early 1980s, and today is in command of our lives.
Are you interested in taking command? Me too. And the only way I can see us beating the system is to leave the system and cease being a pawn in big business’ game.
And how will we accomplish that? By paying off our debt, and refusing to attach credit to our backs. True, we will probably need credit to buy our homes. True, we will probably still use credit cards as a cash flow vehicle, but there is a difference between using credit for cash flow and allowing credit to become a burden of debt, to which the credit card companies will gladly add more weight in the form of interest.
And how will we pay off our debt? By using spare time to earn extra cash for the purpose of paying off our debt, and refusing to incur more debt. To this end, this web site is dedicated.
In this web site, I will seek to inform readers how to earn extra cash, and utilize that cash in pursuit of a debt-free life, a life without the burden of debt.
This will be a journey for us all, as we turn over every rock in search of ways we can earn extra cash to pay down our debt. You are invited to join me on this journey.
